'Minecraft Dungeons' on XCloud has been Optimized for Touchscreens

Microsoft's long-awaited xCloud game streaming service is officially launched on the 15th of April with more than 150 games. One of those games is Minecraft Dungeons, and Microsoft has just announced that developers Mojang Studios and Double Eleven will make it easier to play the game on the move by optimizing it for touch controls. You can now play the game on your Android smartphone or tablet without having to connect an external controller.

Most Xbox games that are part of xCloud were created with the Xbox controller as a focus. Microsoft assumes that most gamers will be using the controller by connecting it to their smartphones. However, in this instance, Microsoft wanted the game to feel native to mobile, so it'll have not just touch controls but also a redesigned interface that is better suited for a small screen. This will allow users to navigate inventories or menus, and any text that may be associated with them.

Microsoft observed that the most intuitive places to place the moves (moves, melees, ranged attack, dodge) are the areas where the controls that are touch-sensitive are the most prominent. This is because the game was created with touchscreen controls in mind, rather than being a secondary concern. Of course, we'll need to play the game ourselves to see how successful they were however it's a positive sign to see Microsoft looking at ways to make games work as best as they can be when played away from your TV and console.
